The Moon Hill is located 10 kilometers to the south of Yangshuo township, it rises 230 meters above the ground, the upper part is a huge screen-like precipice with a big crescent shape hole through its center, hence the name Moon Hill.
Make your way near the foot of the hill, the view of the moon is fantastically changeable from waxing to waning as you move, because a round contour of a nearby hill’s top will shroud more and more of the hole as you move. This is hailed as the only wonder in the world. In 1972, former president of U.S.A. Nixon climbed up to the Moon Hill, being move by the natural masterpiece, planted an osmanthus tree in honor of the trip, he couldn’t help letting out his hearten praise: God blesses Yangshuo too much!
On the way to or back from Moon Hill, it is great fun to explore the nearby caves. The Black Buddha New Water Caves and the Black Dragon Caves are lots of fun for those who love a little adventure. The Black Dragon Caves tour is partly by boat and requires some wading. This expedition takes you through some great underground swimming holes so go prepared to get wet and dirty! The caves are only open in the summer.
