Confucius Residence, located between home of Confucius' descendants and the Confucius temple, is nearly 2,500 years old.
Confucius Residence is the place where Confucius and his descendents used to live. With middle, eastern, and western paths, the residence now occupies an area of more than 40 acres and contains about 463 buildings, mainly halls, mansions, towers and chambers. Along the eastern path lie the Family Temple and the Ancestral Hall, while the western path leads to colleges, where the rites were learnt.
Inside the residence are dozens of valuable historical relics, such as ceremonial articles, stone inscriptions, steles, paintings, and calligraphic works.
In December,1994 The Confucius Temple, Residence and Confucian Forest was listed in the Chronology of Recognition of World Heritages in China.
