Changchun Film Studio
Province:

Jilin

City:

Changchun

Changchun Film Studio, sitting to the north of the beautiful Southlake Park in Changchun, known as " the cradle of New China's films".

The Changchun Film Studio was the first film factory to be built after the establishment of the People's Republic of China (P.R.C.) in 1950. Through 50 year's construction and development, Changchun Film Studio has been one of the largest bases for film production. There are within the Studio 8 film studios, 5 Recording rooms, 1 modern film processing building, a largest prop warehouse in the country and some man-made scenic spots like imitation Yangxin Hall in the Forbidden City and imitation streets, markets in the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Now the Studio is a modern comprehensive film studio that can annually produce 30 feature films, 20 dubbed ones, up to a thousand TV plays, scores of art films; and process a large batch of film copies and audiovisual products.

Changchun Film Studio Has, since the founding in 1946, created and produced over 600 feature and traditional opera films, more than 800 dubbed films of which 70-odd won domestic and international prizes.

Quite confusingly, there is another movie museum/studio in Changchun, the Changchun Movie City. The Changchun Movie City, compared to the Movie Palace, is bigger, newer and more advanced. The attractions here are mainly exhibitions of the art and history of movie making. Within the complex are also a circular movie theatre, ordinary theatres and a few individual studios with different scenery settings. This place is more tourist-oriented than the Movie Palace.
