Cangyan Mountains is located about 50km southwest of Shijiazhuang in Hebei province, covering an area of 63 square kilometers, and are praised as " wonderful and elegant to pull one mountain into one's arm the Five Mountains, competent different mountains only dark green rock too". Buddhist life on the mountain started as far back as the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD), when the original monastery, that was later rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 AD), was founded. Nowadays the most famous sight is still this Hanging Monastery, whose buildings are mainly Sui in style. From below, this gorgeous temple can be seen, perching on the backs of three single-arch, stone bridges that span a precipice, and which are reached on a winding stone path of 300 steps.
