Beishan Park is a quiet and large park, situated rather bizarrely in the west of Jilin. It covers 128 hectares, and includes a large lake. The East Hill and the West Hill are liked by an arched stone bridge. Jade Emperor Pavilion and King of Medicines Temple are both more than three hundred years old. On the East Hill you’ll find Embracing Moon Pavilion and on the West Hill Panoramic Sight Pavilion. In winter, the park provides visitors with a popular place for skiing and skating.
The park is reminiscent of many of the similar areas in Suzhou and Hangzhou, with pavilions, bridges, corridors and terraces well designed and scattered about among the hills. Three small linked lakes run along the foot of the main mountain, and it is possible to take a boat out here to the islet and pavilion in the center of the lake.
