Baotong Temple ,also name Dongshan Temple, or Amitabha Temple, it is located at the southern foot of Hongshan Hill, legendarily built during the period of Song State (420-479), Southern Dynasties. Once popular for its loud bells, and now there exist two large iron bells made in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), and a pair of stone lions carved in the early years of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). At the back hill, there are many pine trees. A Baotong Pagoda is built in memory of a monk master.
This is a fairly representative and classic Chinese Buddhist temple, consisting of a Grand Hall, Meditation Hall and the Abbots Hall. There are also two gargantuan iron bells here, almost 900 years old, dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty.
