Huangshan City, formerly Huizhou Prefectures, has a history of over 2300 years from the early Hsing Dynasty, when Shexian and Yixian Counties were established. The city’s economy and culture has formed its own system, including Huizhou Commerce, Huizhou Cuisine, Huizhou Opera, which took important roles in the ancient Chinese culture. The existing 4900 or more ground historical remains and sites make the city worthy of the name “A Grand View Museum of Chinese History and Culture”, based on Shexian, a famous Chinese historical and cultural town, the Ancient Residences in Yixian County, Tunxi Ancient Street, the Memorial Archway Groups in Shexian County, to name only a few.

Huangshan City contains a wide range of mountain area with nearly intact ecological environment and abundant natural resources. It is the key origin place of timber and bamboo in East China and the famous origin place of tea, mulberry, fruits and traditional Chinese herbal medicine materials. The deposits of bentonite, porcelain clay, serpentoine and fluorspar are about 70% of the total deposits in our province. In addition, there are considerable metal and nonmetal resources of bonecoal, limestone, granite, marble, lead, zinc and tungsten etc.

The communications are convenient and the investment environment is excellent. Huangshan Airport provides scheduled airlines to 14 large cities and tourist cities and chartered airline to Hong Kong. The railway from Anhui to Jiangxi runs through Huangshan City, linking the main opened cities in the Southeast Chian. Highways spread in all directions. In telecommunication, there are international and domestic direct dialing services. The service facilities have been improved increasingly. There are 14 star level hotels and second class travel services.
